Elementary and middle school teachers can apply now through December 31st for a Project Learning Garden Grant. The Captain Planet Foundation Project Learning Garden Program encourages educators to consider the school garden as an extension of the traditional classroom rather than an extracurricular activity. All Project Learning Garden lessons are tied to common core curriculum standards, encourage inquiry-based learning, provide hands-on experiential learning, and guide the teacher towards the next generation science standards. Each lesson also provides an environmental stewardship learning opportunity. Grantees will receive a Project Learning Garden™ provided by Captain Planet Foundation, including: 5 garden beds or garden enhancement (for schools with an existing garden), a mobile garden cooking cart, standards-based Learning Garden lessons and lesson supply kits, and teacher training.
