The Cobb County Science Department would like to announce the winners of the 2nd Grade Creative Butterfly Writing Contest. Thank you to all of the participants in this year's contest. Congratulations to the following students:

- Open to all 2nd graders within the Cobb County School District, this contest encourages young writers to explore themes of transformation, growth, and resilience, much like the metamorphosis of a butterfly.
- Entries may include:
- short stories
- poetry
- informational or opinion essays
- academic/research reports
- personal narratives
- any other original student writing
Procedures
- All elementary schools are eligible to participate.
- A Local School Coordinator (Academic Coach or Other) will collect writing entries, score, and select a school winner.
- Student Entry Deadline for Local Schools: May 2nd, 2025
- Teachers should collect student entries and submit them to their Local School Coordinator by Friday, May 2nd, 2025.

- Submission to the District Deadline: May 9th, 2025
- Each Local School Coordinator should submit their school's winning entry to the CCSD Science Department by Friday, May 9th, 2025. (one winner per school)
- Only winning entries should be sent via county mail to the CCSD Science Department. Please mark the front of the county mail envelope as follows. (To: Alana Davis, Science Department, ISC)
- Winners Announced: May 16th, 2025
- District level winners will be announced on Friday, May 16th, 2025 via email and through our district communications channels (website, social media, blog, etc.)
